Music to my Ears

Today, a small group of us went to Elbphilharmonie to see an orchestra. Jorg Widmann was both the conductor and the composer of two of the concert’s pieces. The first of his compositions kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It felt like I was in a frightening movie, like swimming in an ocean with Jaws about to pop up. The second piece composed by Widmann made me feel as if I was in a haunted house. This piece had two musicians in the back creating sound effects of footsteps and scratching noises. Another piece that they performed teleported me to a place where I was dancing at a ball for the prince. It was if the clock struck 12 and I had to run away because it was past my curfew and I didn’t want my parents to catch me.

This was a really intense horse race, with two horses neck to neck. At the last minute, one of the horses sprinted ahead and took the gold! At the end of the performance we applauded for 4 minutes straight. I thought this was a little excessive, but the smile on all of the musicians’ faces made it all worth it. On the way back to the hostel, we ended up running into the musicians at the train station. Rachael was so excited that she had to take a quick picture, and almost followed them home! ![endif]--[endif]-- ![endif]--
