Today we had the privilege of touring the BMW FIZ building, which is also called the BMW Group Think Tank. Our trip from Brannenburg to Munich was intended to be a smooth trip, but our E3 group clearly has bad luck with trains. After the first train ride, we had to run full speed from one subway to another to make it to the BMW FIZ center on time.

Mr. Metzner started the tour by talking about the future goals at BMW FIZ. They plan on expanding from 26,000 employees to 40,000 employees at the FIZ, which is obviously exciting news for a group of engineering majors! BMW considers every detail of the cars they design; for example, the sound the car door makes when shutting was strategically chosen out of over one hundred different sounds.

Our tour guide walked almost as fast as Mrs. Paige around the BMW campus, but we were all eager to see every part of the FIZ building. Our tour around the FIZ was focused on the innovative ways BMW cars are tested for safety. Testing and designing for safety is clearly a top priority a BMW. We are now very excited learn even more about this amazing company at the BMW factory tour in a few days!
