Today, the gang all got lunch at a small döner cart. After getting our food, an older Turkish woman in an automated wheelchair rolled up to the counter to place her order. While waiting, she decided to strike up conversation with our group. “There are many döner places to eat, but this one is the best!” she exclaimed to us with no introduction whatsoever. We all responded with complacent nods and mmhm’s as we ate. Then she bragged about Bavaria’s beautiful mountains and how she, before being confined to a wheelchair, would climb up the slopes. We all were soon engaged in pleasant conversation with this woman, as she informed us of all the best places in Bavaria to travel to. She also recommended we each get the Turkish Tea that this particular döner cart gave away for free to its customers. Not knowing we had a train to catch very soon, I was the only one to take her advice and order one. Boy did my taste buds regret chugging a steaming hot cup of tea, but at least we made the train this time.
